Firstly, the bad news – I went waaaay overboard with my calories yesterday. I had Thai for lunch and Italian for dinner – then my rather sozzled wife bought ice cream home with her just before midnight.

The great news, however, is that I managed to go out with the lads after work and not have a single drink.

I wasn’t even tempted.

So that saved me about 1900 calories that would have resulted in serious weight gain, no doubt helped along by a tempting kebab on the way home that my drunken brain wouldn’t have been able to say no to.

I also took 19,000 steps yesterday and genuinely feel that once I get rid of the, shall we say ‘ballast’, inside me – I won’t have put weight on yesterday!

But I’m riding to work today just to be sure!
